Why Choose Mike?

There are many “patient safety experts” out there now, but few of them come from outside of medicine. Mike’s experience as a filmmaker, professional athlete, and son of a patient safety pioneer put him in the unique position of a perspective you’ve likely not heard before.

FILMMAKER: With 3+ years of production on his documentary, To Err Is Human, Mike interviewed over 35 professionals in and outside of medicine to gather a variety of viewpoints on not only the problems facing medicine today, but the efforts already in progress across the globe that are proving successful. When speaking about patient safety, Mike condenses these interviews down the crucial elements that will help an audience understand what they can do to be at the cutting edge of quality improvement.

PROFESSIONAL ATHLETE: Mike was drafted in the 2006 MLB Draft by the Cleveland Indians. Prior to that, he helped lead Marietta College to a Division III National Championship, while earning multiple accolades including 1st Team All-American. He combines his many years of experiences as a baseball player with the important lessons of teamwork and communication into every speaking engagement. He believes this is paramount to understanding how to improve patient safety.

SON OF A PIONEER: Mike has discussed patient safety with hundreds of people who worked with his father, Dr. John Eisenberg. It became abundantly clear that his father was most passionate about patient engagement and a culture of safety. Mike has infused this into every presentation, by sharing success stories of others. Instead of focusing on the horror stories that come with preventable harm in medicine, Mike brings an anecdotal approach that leaves his audience with tangible ideas that can be implemented immediately.
